Construction Parents

The Building Careers From the Ground Up, Specialist High Skills Major program offers your child a new experience with their education.
Do you think your child would be beter suited to be out of the classroom and constructing something with their own hands?
Do you think they would you rather be getting hands-on, real life construction trade experience?
Would you like them to jump start their career and earn apprenticeable hours while still in high school?
Would you like them to attend Mohawk College, earn their first level Carpentry and be accepted into the Construction Engineering Technician program at Mohawk College, while still in high school?
Students accepted into the Building Careers From the Ground Up Program will now be able to accomplish these tasks. In addition, students will participate in work experience with various trades and have access to Hamilton-Halton Home Builders.
Students who choose the Building Carerers From the Ground Up Program will spend time constructing a house, either for a local builder or for Habitat for Humanity.
Students will earn their Industry recognized, Specialist High Skills Major certificate, and receive a red seal on their OSSD. Many of their senior level compulsory courses will contain Construction related material. They will also participate in industry recognized training and certification courses in WHMIS, First -Aid/CPR, Fall Arrest and many more.
